(A joint writing effort between Jade and River...)
River had been sitting up on his furs in a corner of the area where he and the other captive elves slept, thinking about ways to get more food for everyone. His stomach was growling uncomfortably, and it had been days since he had the opportunity to steal anything from the trolls.
The sound of heavy troll feet on the rock floor caught his attention, and they were approaching the captive's cave. He stretched back out on his ratty furs and pretended to be asleep. It was safer that way, since the trolls liked to single out anyone who was acting differently when they got bored.
The footsteps got closer, and he heard the tinkling sound of metal, then the noise of the gate to their area being swung open. The trolls were whispering to each other, and in the dim light of the dying torches, he could see that one of them was carrying something, and it looked like an elf.
River made a mental check....but everyone was here, so this had to be a newcomer.
The trolls dropped the elf on the floor just inside the gate and quickly left. River was very curious, but he forced himself to stay put and still until the sound of the footsteps could no longer be heard.
As soon as he thought it was safe, he moved to the new elf as quietly as he could, and knelt by the head. In the dim light, he could see that it appeared to be female, and was at least breathing. River didn't put it past the trolls to bring a dead elf into the cave if they thought they could get some amusement from it.
This elf had long hair that looked black in the dim light, and she wasn't wearing much. River had no way of knowing if it was hot or cold outside and really wasn't even sure of the season. She looked like she had received a beating from the trolls, and when he touched her hair he didn't feel any blood, but there was a LOT of hair.
As he knelt there for a while, watching the female sleep....he noticed that she started to move a bit, like perhaps she was waking up.
He returned to his furs and got the little stone cup of water he saved from earlier and the last of his hidden meat...and brought it to her. Once he sat it down near her, River gently nudged her shoulder to try and wake her up.
Jade groaned. She hadn't had a headache like this since she'd hid away with some of the dreamberries and some wine. The young elfess sat up shakily, trying to get her bearings. What had happened? The last thing she remembered was sitting on the ground, trying to figure out where she was going and what she was supposed to do while on a soul searching quest. The next thing she knew she heard a twig break behind her, and before she could react everything went black.
The scent in here was so heavy, it smelled of ...dirt, elves and... trolls? Her eyes flew open and she looked around anxiously, jumping to her feet. Only to start swaying. Ooooh, so not a good idea!
When the dark haired elf suddenly jumped to her feet, River fell backwards onto his hind end, and found himself quickly embarrassed in addition to being startled.
*I won't hurt you..* he sent, and stumbled to his feet....holding both hands out to show they were empty.
He took her anxious expression and the fact she was rapidly looking around the dim cave to mean she was a bit frightened. *What's your name.....and how did you get here?* he asked, trying to project as much calm as he could.
Swaying from side to side Jade discovered that sitting down was a good idea. Stumbling down more than sitting down she tried to fix her gaze on something solid. A strange sending filled her head and she finally saw the male elf in front of her. The sending made her flinch, it felt as though her head would split. "Don't send!" she whispered, lifting her hands to her head and rubbed her temples lightly. "I'm Jade." She didn't know why she was there, or where "there" was, or even who was there. A few familiar scents filled her nose, and she glanced around to the other sleeping elves. Greenthorn? He was dead? Was she dead? No, the throbbing headache told her she wasn't. "Who are you? Where am I?" she asked, trying to find out where she really was.
River squatted down in front of the unfamiliar elf who called herself Jade. She didn't appear very steady, so he picked up the stone cup of water and bit of meat as he tried to speak.
Speaking out loud was something he wasn't very accustomed to. Normally, he and the other elves would simply send. The only time spoken words were needed was if the trolls demanded and answer to something, and even then River found it safer to act like he was stupid and shrug, nod, or gesture.
"I'm River." he said, speaking as softly as he could. "And you are deep in the ground, in a cave where a few of us live as prisoners of the trolls."
River held out the cup of water and bit of meat as an offer. "I didn't mean to scare you."
"You didn't scare me," she said almost automatically, trying to digest his words. She took the offered meat and water, watching him carefully. "River, huh?" she repeated. The water and the meat tasted odd, but she ate it anyway. It did replenish her strength somewhat. The trolls.... they took prisoners? She felt anger rising and she glanced around, glaring at the cage they were in. This had to be a joke. A sick joke. Right?
River cocked his head to the side, and the fact that he was being studied and watched did not escape his attention. "My mother says there is a story behind my name, but I'm not sure if I believe it."
Taking note of the fact that Jade was looking at everything around her, and that she didn't look like she was happy with what she saw, he sat down and pulled his knees up to his chest with his arms folded across them and rested his chin on his arms.
There were a lot of questions he wanted to ask this strange elf, but he was also concerned for her. "Are you badly injured?"
"I'll be fine," Jade answered, slowly trying to get to her feet again. The throbbing was diminishing, the food and water had helped rejuvenate her a bit, and she found she could stand without being dizzy this time. "So what's with this..... thing?" she asked him, hitting the bars. She'd never seen an enclosure like this before, the wolfriders never used them.
River jumped to his feet when Jade hit the bars. "Shhh!" He whispered, and listened closely to see if there were any sounds of trolls. *Noise draws attention from trolls, and attention from trolls means pain and blood.* he sent tensely.
Satisfying himself that there were no trolls headed their way because of the noise, River relaxed a bit. *It's to keep us in here.* He had returned to sending out of habit, and because it was safer.
Jade gritted her teeth. Now that her head wasn't swimming anymore her nose caught several familiar scents. "Goldstar....Wolfears...Greenthorn...Whitedoe...Vision... There all here," she whispered, trying to take in what all this meant. "They're supposed to be dead!" They had been dead for years. Then again, they'd never found any bodies. The blood in her veins seemed to turn to ice as the realization hit her. They had never died, they'd been here all the time. Would the others think her dead as well? Wouldn't they even look for her?
**(I'll get out of here,)** she sent, her sending laced with a hint of fear, anger and certainty.
River was stunned when Jade listed the names of the other elves. How could she know them? If there were other elves nearby.....or anywhere for that matter.....why hadn't they come to free them? And why was she talking about them being dead? With his mind swimming, River sent *If you can get out of here, take us all with you.*, a mix of hope, fear, and despair mixed together.
"Of course I will." Jade sank down to sit on the ground, her back against the bars of their cage. It all seemed so surreal. It couldn't be happening. It was all just a dream anyway. She was sure it was. Leaving her tribesmates behind was also a surreal thought. She glanced up at the young male again, a slight forlorn look on her face. "So who're you again? I know some of the others, but I don't know your scent."
River returned to a squatting position, with his hands on his knees again. He was beginning to think her brains got knocked around a bit, hadn't he just introduced himself? Well....he thought as he looked at the grim surroundings, suddenly finding yourself stuck here may just have that effect.
*River. I was born here.* He still wasn't quite sure what to think of Jade, but she wasn't trying to eat him, kick him, hit him, make fun of him, or otherwise inflict pain of some sort, so she was in his good graces for now. But it didn't mean he was going to volunteer a whole lot. *How do you know the others?*
Jade glared at him for a brief second before sighing. It wasn't his fault she was there. "Well, I know your name. I just don't know who you are," she explained softly, trying hard not to let any of this get to her. She failed. "The others I know, they're from my tribe. They just went missing years ago. We thought they were dead." She had no idea why she was telling him this. Right now all she wanted was to go home to Taellinn and crawl into the furs and sleep forever. She hoped she'd get to wake up soon.
Without moving any other part of his body except one eyebrow, which River raised questioningly, he replied *Rivulet is my mother. Do you know her too?*
River moved his head just a bit to look down at the ground. He was used to being as still and quiet as possible, a skill and habit from hunting the rats in the tunnels, and staying out of trouble. *Are there other elves out there?*
Rivulet..... The name did ring a bell, but Jade couldn't place her immediately. Then it slowly dawned on her. "Rivulet? The stoneshaper who went missing?" she asked, her eyes seeking his. She walked over to him and sat down next to him, sighing a bit. "There are lots of elves out there," she said, sending him a few images of their holt and the starry night sky. "Wait, you were born in here? Is this all you know?" she asked, her eyes widening. How could anyone survive in the caves for so long? Locked away from everything a wolfrider was?
*She is a rockshaper, so I suppose so.*, River sent meeting Jade's eyes. The images she sent matched with some from the other slaves, just a bit fresher. Like the memories of his mother and the others had faded with time.
He was still in the squatting position, which he was capable of holding still in for a long time. *Yes....* he sent flatly. *I was born in that corner.*, River tilted his head to the side to indicate which one. *Along with my twin.* He saw Jade's eyes widen with disbelief.
*Are you feeling better?* he asked, not really wanting to talk about the outside world, especially now that he knew there were still elves around, and he realized that being stuck down here wasn't the only option....unlike what he had been told.
**(I'm fine,)** Jade replied, shaking her head a bit to confirm that the dizziness had dissipated. She glanced over at the corner he indicated and shuddered. To be born within these walls, never to see the outside... It was a feeling and a thought she found difficult to understand. Unconsciously she rested her head a bit on his shoulder. She was feeling at a complete loss, and deep down she was scared. Scared of what would happen next, of what to expect. All she knew, her entire world had been torn apart, and she felt lost.
River tensed up when Jade rested her head on his shoulder. He looked down at the mass of black hair and felt an unusual feeling in his stomach. Unable to identify it, he tried to ignore it, but found it difficult to do. So, he tried to sit still.
*Do you have a family? Before?* He asked, not wanting to make Jade even more uncomfortable, but just curious about her.
Jade didn't even notice him tensing up, she was just lost in her own misery. "Yeah..." she whispered, figuring she wouldn't want to send anymore. She didn't want him to know how she was feeling and it was difficult to hide emotions from sendings. "I still do," she told him defiantly. There wasn't any "before". She still had a family. And they would come looking for her. They had to.
River thought perhaps he had touched a nerve asking about Jade's family, and he was still confused about the strange feeling in his belly. He sat quietly and waited for Jade to say something. She seemed very different to him, but he realized that his knowledge of anything outside of the caves was basically non-existent.
River summoned all the calm and soothing he could and sent to Jade.
A single tear forced its way from Jades eyes and made its way down her cheek, and she kept telling herself this wasn't real over and over again. Maybe if she said it enough she'd believe it and it'd be the truth. With those thoughts she slowly drifted off to sleep.
River saw the tear on Jade's face, but forced himself to sit still. Once he heard her breathing level out and knew she was asleep, he wiped the tear away, leaving a small dirty smudge on her face. He felt bad about that, she would be dirty enough soon......the caves were far from a clean place.
He tried to see the cave from her perspective......of waking up and finding herself here, after being free. He had no frame of reference, so he gave up on that. But there was a curiosity about the outside building inside him. There were other elves out there! Would they come looking for Jade? Would all of them have a chance to get out of these stinking caves?
He leaned back against the wall and quickly fell asleep with Jade leaning on his shoulder. Morning would come soon enough, and the trolls.......and lots of questions from the others.
*Months later*
The sound of troll voices and heavy footsteps wakes River, and he realizes he will be very sore today. Sitting up and stretching, he reaches for the pieces of meat hidden in a small crack in the stone wall.
As he stands up and is chewing on the meat, River doesn't notice that the chains on his ankles were tangled in the furs and he falls face forward with a thud.
Jade was already up, sitting at her usual spot a few feet away from River, and when he tumbled over she couldn't help but laugh. **(Silly,)** she teased him, grinning, and for a moment forgetting about this dreary place. The young elfess smiled a bit, but it failed to reach her eyes. She hadn't laughed since she had been caught, and now it reminded her of her home.
River rolled onto his back, and was rubbing his still sore shoulder, not exactly glad that he had landed on it. **What a way to start the day huh?** he sent in reply, looking at Jade. He realized this was the first time he had seen her smile even a little bit, and decided he didn't really mind falling face first after all. As hard as it was on him to know nothing but the caves, he could only imagine how she was feeling just a few short months after being free.
Jade couldn't help but smile, softer this time. **(Come on, you have to get up before they're here,)** she sent, offering her hand to help him get up. The trolls were prone to picking on the weak ones, or those they perceived to be weak. **(Can't have you scurrying around in the mud before our captors, now can we?)** her sending was laced with a vehement poison for the trolls, and she looked up at towards the corridor.
River extended the hand attached to his non injured shoulder to accept the help up. He tried to catch Jade's eyes as he rose to his feet. He had decided that he liked seeing her smile.
Her disgust for the trolls came through clearly in the send, and River made a mental note to stay off Jade's bad side. His stomach was empty, and had been for at least a day. **We need to get some more food. None of us will last long without anything to eat.** The trolls had begun playing one of their cruel games again, where the elves were not given food for days on end....then beaten and whipped for being slow and weak. River was still killing rats but the meager amount of meat didn't do much....and he usually gave his tiny portion away.
Jade smiled a bit and pulled the other elf to his feet, then quickly let go of his hand. She knew he was right. **(I can start a commotion today and then you can run off a bit and see if you find any?)** she suggested. It wasn't at all easy to get out of the cages, and most of the rats didn't come in there.
River shook his head. There was no need for Jade to be the next in line for a beating. **I was thinking of something a bit more.....bountiful.** River gave a sly grin, he was hoping she would help him with his plan. He had been thinking of a way to pull it off since before she arrived in the caves, but hadn't managed to summon the courage.
**When the trolls come to get me so to dump their trash and scraps....I was going to bring back whatever I could carry. But it would have to be hidden......**
Jade grinned at him. She liked the way his mind worked. **(I can help you with that,)** she sent. Distracting the trolls wouldn't be much of a challenge. And just distracting them meant less of a beating as well. The trolls had already discovered that she could take more of a beating and recover faster than the others could, and they never wasted an opportunity to get to test it once again. Perhaps they could use it to their advantage.
River grinned at Jade. As expected, she was up for the challenge. **Let's go tonight!**
He was excited at the prospect of having a fuller belly for a change. **What can we hide the food in?**
River thought that if Rivulet and the others knew what they were planning, they would not be happy. He was hoping to pull this off without them knowing what they were up to.
Jade looked around the room and frowned a bit as she searched the room for anything suitable. **(Well, there's the cloak I had when I first arrived,)** she suggested, going to her sleeping place and picked it up. It was still functional, just not clean. Nothing was ever clean in this place.
River looked at the cloak Jade picked up and smiled. **That would work...but.....how can we distract the guard long enough to get the food?**
The troll guards were fairly stupid but he couldn't imagine how they would completely not notice an elf bundling food up in a cloak and carrying it away.
Jade's grin grew wicked. **(Leave that to me,)** she smirked. She knew how to irk the trolls enough so they'd focus on her more than anything else.
River shrugged silently, still curious, and hoping Jade didn't get herself beaten up....or him for that matter. But they needed food....
**I'll hide the food then.** He sent, hoping the day passed quickly.
Jade nodded and turned her head a bit as the trolls approached. This was going to be a long day indeed.
***Later that evening***
Jade was laughing as she ran back towards the cages, her excitement very clear. **(We did it!)** she locksent to her companion. It had been great! She hadn't even earned much of a beating! Well, her back was a bit sore, the troll had to take a few swings at her, but that was only to be expected. The important thing was that none of them would go hungry to bed tonight!
River ran next to Jade, as fast as chained feet would allow, clutching the meat wrapped in her cloak tightly. The scent was intoxicating, and he was fairly sure she could hear his stomach rumble. The places on his arms where the troll's whip landed still stung, but he was trying to put them out of his mind.
**We will eat....we will all eat....** River replied joyously as he glanced at Jade. Even stuck in the caves, she seemed free in a way that he didn't understand but found very intriguing.
As the captive's quarters came into sight, he held out the bundled cloak to Jade so she could share in the intoxicating scent of enough meat to feed all of them for a few days.
The scent of the meat made her mouth water and her stomach growled a bit in response. A wolfish grin spread on her face as she eyed him curiously, then the smile faded away as she noticed his arms. **(Sorry 'bout that,)** she mumbled in sending. It hadn't been her intention to get him hurt at all.
River shrugged at Jade's concern. He wasn't about to let on that it hurt. **Your back looks worse then my arms...** he sent, kicking himself for letting her get hurt. No one was supposed to get hurt. The one time a troll guard isn't drunk at this time of night and it has to be the one with them.
**Food will help right?** River sent, looking at Jade and trying to catch her glance.
Jade shrugged. **(My back will heal faster than your arms,)** she replied. **(Besides, we got the food, so it's all worth it, right?)** she added, meeting his eyes with her green gaze and a careful smile. **(Perhaps Goldstar will have the strength to look at your arms after she's eaten.)** She could see it in his eyes that his arms hurt, and she felt bad about it. Though it had been his own choice she reminded herself. **(You didn't have to do that, you know.)**
River calmed a little inside with Jade's smile. **I don't want to wear Goldstar out any more than she already is. But maybe.** He noticed hat having Jade around made him feel calmer in some ways, and it was really nice to have someone to talk to. But he didn't understand the strange feeling that told him he HAD to jump in when the troll was beating her. **Perhaps I did and perhaps I didn't. But we got food and I'm hungry, aren't you?** Food was a fairly safe topic in the caves.
River smiled back and when his eyes met Jade's he saw something that looked a bit softer than usual in them.
**(Yes, starving,)** Jade replied, deciding to let it go. She knew what she was doing, so she'd just have to trust him to know what he was doing. **(Come on, let's see what the others say,)** she sent, picking up the pace again.
*approx one year after Jade arrived in the caves*
River was laying on his furs, looking at the sleeping mass of black hair that was Jade. He had been feeling more and more awkward around her lately, and that was disturbing. It wasn't that he could no longer talk to her, or didn't trust her. Quite the opposite. River found himself opening up more and more to her, and even caught himself staring at her while Jade was trying to clean up a bit in one of the tiny shallow pools in the tunnels that the two found. The heady feeling he had been experiencing more and more around her was back, and River was fighting the urge to reach the few feet between them and trace one of the marks the trolls left on her body.
Jade yawned and stretched a bit, enjoying the quiet rest. It wasn't often they had the chance to sneak away like this and just be alone, no trolls and no adults and no noise. She had the distinct feeling that someone was watching her though. "What're you looking at?" she whispered, turning to face him.
River froze....not sure what to do. He felt his eyes drawn to Jade's, and felt himself blush. With a slightly shaking hand, he pushed some hair away from his face as he tried to calm his racing heart.
River was afraid to send for the first time in his young life. Things were happening with his body that he felt he had no control over, like a strange hunger deep inside him.....and these things only occurred around Jade. Very nervously, yet struggling to keep his voice level, River spoke. "Nothing......just can't sleep." He hoped that she hadn't seen him staring earlier, River didn't want to ruin the rare night of peace.
"Liar," she smiled a bit. "You were staring at me, just now. I noticed," she stated. There was something in his eyes she couldn't quite put her finger on, and it made her both curious and a bit uncertain. She moved closer to him and lay down again to rest her head a few inches from his face. **(So tell me,)** she sent, looking into his eyes curiously, trying to figure out the strange feeling that was suddenly spreading through her body and making her heart skip a beat.
River remained still as Jade moved closer to him, with only his eyes following her every move. He wanted to protest his innocence and tell Jade that he was not staring at her, but he also wanted to talk to her about what he was feeling.
But how to talk Jade about what he's feeling when it seems like she is the source of it? As she rested her head a few inches from his face, River felt his breath catch, and the warm, hungry feeling spread through his body. In the turn of the seasons since Jade arrived in the caves, River couldn't remember her face ever being this close to his. **I don't know how** he sent, well aware that his emotions would pass to Jade as well.
River wanted to look away because of the intensity of locking eyes with Jade, but at the same time he wanted to reach out and touch her. Instead, he bit his bottom lip and allowed her to hold his gaze.
Jade felt a faint blush color her cheeks at the look in his eyes and the feelings that accompanied the sending. They mirrored her own and it confused her a bit more. She didn't understand the emotions, or the chaos, so she figured she'd change the focus a bit.
She reached out with her hand and lightly run her fingers down his side, grinning. "Do you know now?" she asked, chuckling.
The gripping tension in his body broke with Jade's touch, as River twisted sideways. He was very ticklish, and was beginning to regret the fact that Jade ever found out. River laughed, and while he was squirming to try and avoid being tickled again he sent **No, but you didn't have to tickle me!** At first being tickled moved his focus away from the unfamiliar feelings, but as he was squirming he realized that it was actually making them stronger.
River managed to get a hold of Jade's wrists, and pin her hands to the ground. He was surprised at first, normally wrestling matches end up with him flat on his back. River flopped down partly on top of Jade, and found his body feeling strangely light and tingly. He swallowed hard, feeling more and more confused about what was happening to him. Biting his bottom lip again, River intertwined his hands with Jade's, not realizing he was doing it...and looked into her deep green eyes. There was something there....something that seemed to be pleading, but he didn't know what for.
For a brief moment it seemed as though the distraction had worked, but she wasn't prepared for how Rivers touch made her snap for breath and her heart race. Her first reaction was to throw him off, and to figure out what was going on, but for some reason she didn't. Instead she found herself enjoying the feel of his hands intertwined with hers, and a strange warm sensation spread through her body.
Unconsciously she closed her fingers around his hands, staring into his eyes she tried to say anything, but no words would come. All she seemed to be aware of was his body on top of hers, and the sound of his breathing. She found herself wanting him closer, but she wasn't sure of how to tell him. So instead of saying anything she decided she'd show him instead. Snaking one hand free of his grasp she lifted it to gently touch his face, tracing a finger along his jawline. **(And now?)** she asked, fully aware that all her feelings would follow the send. She let her gaze rest on his mouth for a few moments before she locked her gaze with his again, moving her hand to guide his face closer to hers.
River felt like all the breath had been sucked out of him, and was suddenly very aware of each and every curve of Jade's body beneath him, which was something he had paid very little attention before tonight.
As Jade's finger touched his jawline, River felt a wave of tingles spread throughout his body. He turned his head toward her hand, resting it there gently. Another wave of tingles ran down his spine as the wave of emotions from Jade's send reached his mind. He didn't know words to describe it, he just knew that it was like having his own confused and chaotic feelings sent back to him
River could feel his heart pounding when Jade's eyes locked on his. It seemed to him she had been staring at his mouth, and he relaxed his arms a little, allowing Jade to pull his face closer to hers. River found that he couldn't speak, and couldn't form a coherent thought either, but he moved his chin over just enough so that his lips brushed her fingertips.
The feel of her fingers brushing against his lips sent waves of tingles up and down his spine. River tried to hold Jade's gaze as she gently guided his head toward hers, and he could feel his breath catch and his heart pound wildly.
River relaxed his arms, and rested himself on one elbow as their lips met, and the fingertips of his free hand slowly moved down the arm he had pinned Jade to the floor with, barely touching her skin along the way.
As his lips brushed against her fingers she shivered lightly, and she found herself holding her breath as his face lowered close to hers. Her eyes fluttered shut as their lips met, and his touch sent delightful shivers down her spine.
At first she kissed him gingerly, then she slowly let more passion flow into the kiss and let her free hand run through his hair and lightly down his back. Jade adjusted her body slightly under his weight so she was able to wrap one leg around him.
She wanted to say something, but no words would come. Opening her eyes she broke the kiss and looked into his eyes questioningly, trying to figure out what he really wanted, what he was thinking.
River quickly matched the passion in Jade's kiss, and when her leg wrapped around him and pulled his lower body closer to her, it sent a new wave of sensations shooting through his body. His breath caught briefly as he settled against her and his nose caught the slight change in Jade's scent.
His eyes opened reluctantly when Jade broke the kiss, and he looked at her cautiously, wondering if he had done something wrong. The look in Jade's eye seemed to indicate she wasn't upset....instead he saw a fiery hunger, speckled with questions that he couldn't quite decipher.
River gently ran his free hand down Jade's side and then back up to the edge of the leather rags that could barely be considered a shirt. He leaned his head down next her ear and softly whispered "May I?" as he teasingly kissed the edge of her ear.
River didn't know what the questions in Jade's eyes meant, but he could feel the waves of hunger coming from her, and realized that his own body seemed to know a lot more about what was happening than his mind did, and he was quickly giving in to it.
A huge smile spread on Jades lips at his question, and she nodded. His touch sent waves of delight rushing through her body, and she finally gave in to the sensations and the feelings flooding her mind and body. The sensation of his breath so heavy on her skin made it seem to her as though her body was living its own life, like she was no longer in control of it.
Her arms wrapped around him and pressed his body closer to hers. The sound of his breath and his heartbeat matched hers. Jade smiled and pulled him in close for another deep kiss, opening her mind to him and letting him know exactly how she felt and how much she wanted his touch.
River softly kissed up the length of Jade's ear and back down to her jaw as his work roughened hand drifted under the leather rags. He was pleasantly surprised at how soft the skin was and the sensation heightened his desire to explore every possible inch of Jade with his hands and lips. As her hands pulled his whole body closer, and Jade kissed him deeply, River felt his conscious self give way to something more ancient and he was surprised to find he was no longer as nervous. River opened his mind and felt the flood of thoughts and feelings from Jade as he kissed the hollows of her neck softly and felt her breath tickle his ear. His back arched with delight as his mind met Jade's. River tried to sort out her thoughts and feelings from his, but they were much intertwined. He reached for her hand and placed it over his heart as he locked his gaze with hers. **Show me....** he sent.
Her desire rose with each of his touches, each kiss, and the change in his attitude made her smile. Jade’s eyes grew darker as she let her feelings take over and her body take control. Her hand moved down his side and began working with his clothing. She wanted to feel every inch of his body against hers and when he sent to her she just nodded and guided his hand down her body to rest between her thighs...
River followed the path of his hand in Jade's with his eyes, and he let out a deep sigh as they both came to rest between her thighs. He allowed Jade to continue guiding his hand as his body took over.
****A few hours later***
Jade was lying next to River with her head on his shoulder and her arm across his chest. She was content to just lie there. Her body was utterly exhausted, but in a good way, and she was sleepy. What really surprised her though was the sense of calm and serenity she felt. This was probably the first time she had been happy since she had first arrived in the caves.
Sighing softly to herself she just lay there, listening to his breath, a small smile resting on her lips.
River was attempting to process what had occurred, but he knew he enjoyed himself. He gently brushed some of the thick black hair from Jade's face and smiled at her soft breath tickling his chest.
There was a sense of peace in his mind and body, and for the first time he felt like he fit, like he belonged, and like he was understood. River held Jade tightly and buried his face in her hair, and opened his mind to show her what he was thinking and feeling because he didn't think he could find the words.
